Will a WORKHORSE Module void my warranty?
The WORKHORSE module is UNDETECTABLE by service diagnostics and can be EASILY REMOVED before servicing. Remember... with the WORKHORSE you don't need to make any other modifications. | A dealership can not void you warranty just because you have an aftermarket product installed. They can however refuse to pay for a repair under the warranty if it is determined the aftermarket product cause the issue. If a service department sees a pyrometer gauge and exhaust or intake modifications they will most likely assume a "chip" has been installed on the truck. Most vehicle owners are not aware that they are protected by Magnuson Moss Warranty – Federal Trade Commission Improvement Act of 1975 for the installation of aftermarket products. Under this federal law, aftermarket equipment which improves performance does not void a vehicle manufacturer's original warranty, unless the warranty clearly and conspicuously states so. It is advised that you read your vehicle's warranty manual thoroughly. | |

Why is The WORKHORSE better that other diesel performance products? The WORKHORSE produces "substantial" power increases WITHOUT ADDING MORE FUEL to the engine. There are several dynamics in how more power is produced in a diesel engine. Almost every electronic diesel performance chip, module or programmer on the market today produces more horsepower by altering the duration timing of the injection pulse and/or reprogramming the fuel tables in the factory computer... most even claim so on their websites. The longer you hold open the injector the more fuel you are going to add to the engine... period! "Fuel delivery is controlled by the injectors which are cycled by the computer. The computer produces a signal to open the injectors for a certain length of time depending on engine conditions relayed by sensors. This computer output signal is called the injector pulse width. The longer that the injector is open, the more fuel is injected. As engine load and rpm are increased, the injector open times are increased to match increasing airflow. The longer the pulse width... the more fuel is injected." Diesels run on air-fuel. As long as you are getting the proper amount of air to equal the extra fuel you are adding your truck will increase its performance efficiently. But what happens as soon as you are at the limit of how much air is coming in and you continue to add more fuel? What you get is black smoke and an increased in exhaust gas temperature do to excess fuel continuing to burn as it goes out your exhaust. If you can eliminate over-fueling the engine you can eliminate the need for a pyrometer to monitor exhaust gas temperatures (EGT's), larger exhaust to vent off the excess heat and the need for a larger air intake. Over-fueling will shorting the life of the engine and turbo because that high exhaust heat travels right through your turbo and accelerates wear. Not to mention the excess fuel can seep down into crank case oil. By atomizing the fuel with higher injection pressure you keep you air-fuel ratios in balance thus eliminating the "over-fueling" effect AND high EGTs. Burning every drop of fuel inside the combustion chamber gives you increased performance while your exhaust temperatures remain normal... eliminating the added expense of temperature gauges, air intake and bigger exhaust systems. If you over-fuel your engine to produce more power your $500 chip will cost you $1400 once you install a $300 pyrometer, $500 larger exhaust, and $200 larger air intake. (plus the labor charges for installations) On the outside two cars may look identical... but once you start pulling a hill you find out that it is what is under the hood that separates them. Side by side all diesel performance products may look the same and produce power. On certain vehicle model other products produce MORE power than the Workhorse, BUT... it all boils down to HOW are they producing that power and what is the long term effects on the engine. Bottom line is NOT HOW MUCH power they can produce but HOW SAFE are they producing that power and is it "USABLE power". The WORKHORSE separates itself from the pack by precisely regulating the fuel pressure electronically so that you improve the atomization of the fuel as it sprayed into the combustion chamber.
