The WORKHORSE IS NOT an old-fashioned chip that reprograms your truck’s computer and over-fuels your engine to product power. It is a REAL “stand alone” software controlled digital micro-computer that simply plugs into your factory wiring harness and very precisely manages your fuel delivery based upon the RPM and load you are putting on the engine. Fine-tuning your fuel-rail pressure changes your engine's peak efficiency so that you can start accessing your engine’s power curve at a lower rpm range. In addition to the “power curve” change you also get improved fuel atomization. The smaller diesel fuel particles are broken down… the more available oxygen the fuel mixes with. Fuel Savings: Buy it for the increased towing performance… but pay for it with fuel savings. Listen carefully… this is very important… as I stated above the WORKHORSE makes substantial power gains without “over-fueling” your engine. Almost every chip on the market today produces power gains… by adding more fuel to the engine. It does this by changing the timing of the injection pulse. For example… instead of the injector spraying fuel for 3-4 microseconds, the chip causes it to hold open longer (say 7-8 microseconds)... i.e. putting more fuel into the engine. Does over-fueling produce more power? Yes… it does. Most leading chips have higher “peak” horsepower than the WORKHORSE. BUT… the hazard of over-fueling your engine is that it can and will affect the longevity of your engine because to much fuel produces high exhaust gas temperatures, cylinder wash-down … and oh yes… lots of black smoke. You see if you add more fuel without adding more air to your engine, you get an imbalanced air/fuel mixture. The un-burnt fuel ignites as it exits through your exhaust manifold and turbo causing excessively high exhaust gas temperatures. ***This is why they advise you put on gauges (to monitor the temperature) and larger air-intake and exhaust systems to get more air in and more heat out. Also… look at the Chart above and you will notice the difference in the power curve of the WORKHORSE vs. a typical chip. A typical chip gives you allot of power on the top-end but is definitely lacking in the low-mid range. | |

And… even thought most aftermarket products don’t void your warranty just by installing them… service departments today are starting to hassle folks when they see a pyrometer gauge, an aftermarket air-cleaner and a larger exhaust… because they know you are most likely using a chip. THOSE THINGS ARE HARD TO HIDE! ** NOTE: If an aftermarket product does cause damage to your engine your dealerships does no have to repair the damage under the warranty if they can prove the aftermarket product caused the failure. Magnuson Moss Act states that aftermarket equipment which improves performance does not void a vehicle manufacturer’s original warranty, unless the warranty clearly and conspicuously states that aftermarket equipment voids the warranty. | |
We are asked all the time: If this is so good… why don’t the truck manufactures do this themselves? The answer is simple… they do! Haven’t you noticed that all the new trucks now have over 325 horsepower & 600 ft/lb torque? That is a huge leap over just a few years ago. What the manufactures have done to achieve these higher horsepower ratings is to update their engines with high-pressure fuel systems. Where they used to put out 2000-3000 PSI fuel pressure… they are now putting out 23,000-27,000 PSI. But here you find part of the problem… Truck manufactures are competing for “BEST IN CLASS”… so that 325 horsepower is measured at the flywheel and at 3000+ rpm. BUT… you actually only get around 250-270 peak horsepower to the rear-wheel… and only about 150 horsepower while driving at 2000 RPM/70 MPH. Honestly… today’s diesels have plenty of power! They just put it at too high of RPM for optimal low-end towing performance and fuel economy. How long or how often do you drive or pull at 3000+ rpm? [Horsepower =’s (Torque x RPM)/ 5252] It is a fact that you pay $40,000 for a new truck… and 99% of the time you really only get to use 1/2 the horsepower you paid for leaving you short of your expectations of optimal fuel efficiency and towing performance. | |
